Message From Tiffany Charles, Board of Trustees President

Tiffany Charles

We aim to build a better, stronger, more vibrant community by positively influencing children and youth today.

Dear Friends,

As the Board of Trustees at St. Vincent Home for Children plans our future, we reflect on our rich history that dates to 1850. Originally named the German St. Vincent Orphan Association, St. Vincent was established by German Catholics who had compassion for the children who became orphans during the 1849 cholera epidemic. Our founders saw the unmet needs of underserved children and organized resources to care for them.

Today’s Board of Trustees follows the same formula and continues the tradition of compassion and commitment to young people. We aim to build a better, stronger, more vibrant community by positively influencing children and youth today. The Board is actively working to stay aware of unmet needs in the community, seeking partnerships with like-minded organizations that share our commitment, and raising funds to support the work.

Our professional and caring St. Vincent staff provide a loving and therapeutic environment for clients – on-site, and in their schools, and homes. In addition to therapy, St. Vincent offers enrichment programs, such as art therapy and ServSafe® food handling certification, to help develop the whole child.

Over the coming years, we intend to expand our programs to better meet the dynamic needs of the population we serve, including:

Enhanced family therapy and supports to help stabilize the home environment

Job readiness training that helps create opportunities for our youth AND addresses St. Louis’ skilled workforce needs

Trade school and college awareness to help chart a path to personal success

Etiquette courses and life skills lessons to increase confidence

Cultural appreciation and access to the arts to increase exposure to different cultures

And the list goes on…we cannot do this work alone. On behalf of the Board of Trustees at St. Vincent Home for Children, I invite you to join us in this work through your donations of time, talent, and treasure.

Many thanks,

Tiffany Charles
